South America

South America Part 1 - Preparing to Leave

Greta and I have pondered that. If we weren't using airline frequent flyer miles to and from South America, we would not have gone. Plus, we traded for time share accommodations for ten days in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, Uruguay, so we've eliminated the cost of ten nights of lodging. For the final three nights, we're staying with friends in Mar De Playa, Argentina.

South America Part 2 - Stuff Happens When
You Travel - Santiago, Chile

My partner Greta and I are on a trip to South America. First stop, Santiago, Chile. Because our time there was limited to 1 ˝ days, we hired a guide to drive us around. We located Mauricio beforehand on the Internet.

South America Part 3 - Buenos Aires -
Succulent Beef and Passionate Tango

My partner Greta and I are traveling in South America. Our second stop was in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a lively, bustling city of three million inhabitants (10 million in the metropolitan area).

South America Part 4 - Staying on
Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro

Each of us has a pretty could handle on Spanish, but in Brazil, the language is Portuguese and that's another breed of cat. Oh, there are a few words that sound enough like Spanish words that you sometimes get the hang of what they are saying, but that's about it.

South America Part 5 - Uruguay

We spent the day walking through the Old City, enjoying the buildings and the stores and found the prices more reasonable than in Buenos Aires or Rio so we did a little shopping. It seems that most cities in South America center around a plaza of independence or a plaza named after the date independence was achieved.
